The last time I was this frantic was when I was a resident in the ICU. I considered abandoning blogging, but I really don’t want to. I know I keep saying this, but please hang in there while I try to regain my balance. In the meantime, here’s an update:
Good news: I fired the temp assistant
Bad news: my old assistant still hasn’t come back, and it’s looking increasingly unlikely that she ever will
Good news: two of my associates in the outpatient offices had babies
Bad news: there is no one but me to fill in at the outpatient offices
Good news: I got a raise and a bonus
Bad news: I was given an offer I couldn’t refuse to take over as Medical Director of my outpatient office
Good news: I was relieved of several detested duties
Bad news: I have four months’ worth of unfinished work to get through
Good news: my parents are coming for the weekend
Bad news: TH is going away for the weekend
Good news: HB had a tiny growth spurt and grew out of his 2T overalls in time for his upcoming third birthday
Bad news: Nana is still convinced we’re starving him
Uncategorized: HB weaned himself (without ever learning any words for breasts)
I feel like I’m at a dead run from the time I wake up until I slide into bed, and sometimes all night long. But overall it’s a reasonably good busy.
And now I’m late for a meeting.

Hang on in there. It's got to get better soon.
Was nice to hear an update, I had been wondering how you were getting on.
You're not alone. I've been busy as fuck-all, plus sleeping more hours due to my gestational project, and have had very little time or energy for blogging. I've also thought "should I just give it up?" but I don't want to.
And I'm sure I speak for many of your readers when I say I enjoy your posts enough that I'm happy to wait for them. I'll take one DoctorMama post every couple weeks over near-daily posts from a less satisfying blog.
Congrats on the weaning and the growing, and good luck with the craziness.
I'll be happy to keep reading, no matter what the frequency (or lack thereof). Congrats on the promotion. Sorry you're feeling so overwhelmed.
Good busy is good. The new job is pretty sweet but I'm sure juggling all that with the boy is something fierce. Hopefully less attending months in the trade.
Wow - you've been slammed! Good luck on everything!
Sorry to hear that your assistant is still recovering. PPD is so hard... I'm thinking of her.
I'm a loving lurker who hopes you don't quit this blog... hope the new assistant is fabulous... who knows, maybe you could just dicate your blog to her (him?)?
What city do you work in? I'd be glad to be your assistant. I have a master's degree (in health journalism) but don't use it (I burned out on it) and need a productive day job that contributes to overall good. I'm currently an executive assistant for a beaurocracy (the state of Tennessee) and would love to work for someone who works. The downside: I'm also an older new mom and would like to keep my hours to 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In exchange, you get unflagging loyalty.
I was just thinking about you this morning and wonderering where you were. Thanks for the update. Just keep swimming.
Great to hear from you. I hope it calms down soon.
Kinda interesting you know that your new assistant's period is late! I'm not sure I'd tell that to anyone.
Hang in there. Congrats on the promotion. Congrats to HB on the weaning and move to 3T clothes. Blog and run and take care of yourself.
People like you demonstrate that I'm simply a wuss when it comes to feeling overwhelmed by busyness. Your kind of busy makes me want to lie down with a cool compress.
Fans of DoctorMama, if you are vexed by navigating to this blog every day, hoping against hope for a new post but finding only an old post, may I suggest using the RSS feed? There's a link way at the bottom of the blog whereby you can subscribe. When there's a new post, you'll know; when there isn't, you know you're not missing anything new.
Hang in there!
I am a patient fan of yours, Doctor Mama, and will gladly wait for you to find the minute to post once in awhile. I hope things settle down for you soon and congrats on the promo.

PS I'm still on the DoctorMama Running Programme-took a hiatus on holiday in April but got right back into it once home. Thanks!
Good to hear from you DoctorMama. I'm sorry your overwhelmed but it gladly hang around for any posting you list.
Congrats on the promotion, HB's growth spurt and reclaiming your breasts.
OK, so I'm only somewhat literate...
It should read ...but will gladly hang around...
Hang in there, woman!
Congratulations on the weaning - and I hope life calms down a little for you.
